Basic Korean Language - Lesson 2

Lesson 2 - Meeting someone for the first time (2)

Here are the very basic words when you are introducing yourself to someone.

English Form   Korean Romanization Form
I'm Sungho Lee jeo-neun isungho-imnida
Pleasure to meet/see you. bangapseumnida

When introducing name to someone in Korean the phrase is used (jeo-neun "name"-imnida)

'jeo' in the phrase means 'I' and it is followed by topic marking article 'neun'. After such it is inserted by name. The phrase 'imnida' follows right after the name which means 'am'.
Literally the phrase (jeo-neun "name"-imnida) means 'I (name) am' and it is translated to 'I am (name)'.
